This record takes those influences and boils them all down to reveal an unsettling negative space that’s shared between them. It starts with the eerie, ethereal shimmers of ‘Darkness’ before descending into the dark ambience of ‘Emergence’ (a rain-spattered, chain-rattling vibe – think Harry Dean Stanton’s death scene in Alien lol). It then ratchets up proper with the industrial stuttering grime of ‘Spider’ before winding things back down again with the warm, enveloping synths and spoken word of ‘Balance’.
